Most athletes peak in one sport. Some dominate in two. And then there’s Casey Rose. The former Rutgers lacrosse star who has developed a pretty insane reputation when it comes to ripping on the mountain.
If you followed Big Ten lacrosse, you may remember Rose as the guy dropping behind-the-back dimes and ripping top-cheddar rockets past helpless goalies. But post-lax life has taken him from turf to terrain, trading the lacrosse field for Montana’s legendary backcountry. And guess what? The dude can ski. Like, really ski.
ECD Lacrosse—one of the biggest names in the game—caught wind of Rose’s second act and decided to feature him on their YouTube channel. The result? A mind-blowing showcase of his freestyle skills, proving that some athletes just refuse to stick to one arena.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Rose was always surrounded by elite ski culture. But it wasn’t until after hanging up his lacrosse stick that he reunited with his love for skiing. Moving to Bozeman, Montana, gave him the perfect playground: world-class powder, steep lines, and endless backcountry opportunities. When he’s not coaching the local high school lacrosse team, he’s out there sending it—hucking massive backflips and carving through challenging descents like nobody's business.
His skiing skills even caught the attention of the Big Ten Network, where he once spoke about his love for freestyle skiing. Turns out, the competitive fire that made him a lacrosse standout translated perfectly to the mountains.
Casey Rose is proof that being a great athlete doesn’t stop when one chapter ends. Some guys retire. Others just find new ways to send it. Whether it’s launching a piss missile past a goalie or launching himself off a cliff, Rose is out here proving that some people are just built different.
So, next time you’re contemplating a second career, maybe don’t rule out sending double backflips in the backcountry. Just saying.
