Saudi Arabia Set to Build $500 Billion Futuristic Ski Resort

Saudi Arabia is making yet another power move—this time, in the ski world. The country is going all in on Trojena, a futuristic ski resort that’s part of the massive $500 billion Neom project. Yes, you read that right—half a trillion dollars for a ski resort. And where is this happening? The middle of the desert.

Trojena will be built in northwestern Saudi Arabia, where summer temperatures get pretty freakin hot. So, how do you get snow in a place that sees more camels than cold fronts? Simple—when you have a budget big enough to buy small countries, you find a way. They’re planning 36km of ski slopes, making it the first major ski destination in the region.

Neom Tourism.

But this isn’t just about skiing. The plan includes a full-on alpine village with bars, restaurants, hotels, luxury spas, and year-round activities like mountain biking and water sports. The resort is expected to have a three-month ski season, but even when the snow melts (or, more accurately, when the artificial snow is turned off), there will still be plenty to do.

And Trojena isn’t just some wild idea—it’s already making waves. It’s set to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, meaning professional athletes will be racing down desert-made snow in just a few years.

Love it or hate it, you have to admit—Saudi Arabia just changed the game. A ski resort in the desert? It sounds insane. But with $500 billion behind it, they’re not just dreaming—they’re doing.
