Skiers Encounter Two Moose Crossing Deer Valley Lift

What in the literal mother nature did I just watch? A video of two moose casually strolling past a ski lift at Deer Valley in Utah, completely unfazed by the humans around them. It’s like the moose were just running errands while the skiers were working through their usual routine. The people on the lift? Totally chill. No wide-eyed panic, no frantic waving. Just a couple of moose making their way across the slopes like they own the place.

Now, here’s what’s going through my mind: One of these absolute units is going to bull rush me, and I’ll be in the hospital before I even finish my first run. I mean, I’m all for seeing wild animals in their natural habitat—hell, that’s part of the charm of skiing in places like Utah—but when that animal is only a few feet away while I’m strapped into a ski lift, that’s a whole other level of “no thanks.”

What am I supposed to do if one of those moose gets too close? Shove it away with my ski pole like I’m trying to swat away a mosquito on a hot summer day? Probably not. I’d be a frozen statue in terror, praying it doesn’t decide to turn my way and send me in the air.

But what really blows my mind is the fact that people were just chilling on that lift, watching the moose stroll by without any sense of panic. These people deserve some kind of medal. I’m over here imagining a full-speed collision, but them? Probably just thinking, “Oh,sick, a couple of moose. Welcome to Deer Valley.”

The whole thing just proves that skiing is never a predictable experience. You’re not just dodging trees or worrying about hitting an icy patch—you might just have to dodge a moose while you're at it. And honestly, if I came across one mid-run, I’m hitting that downhill like Lightning McQueen in the Piston Cup, racing straight for safety.

Props to the people on that lift though. They’ve got more balls than I’ll ever have in a situation like that, and I’m sure they have one hell of a story to share after that.
